Herein find all the mysteries of the great 15-MinArt Challenge revealed:

(#15minartchallenge)

Do you find your time constrained? You’re tired, you’ve worked a full day, you’ve got bills to pay, whatever your thing is—too often, we feel we don’t have time.

But we do.

We can find 15 minutes. You and I have that somewhere in our day.

Back in 2014, I only had a little time to draw. However, my work had a smoker’s policy allowing three five-minute smoke breaks daily.

I decided to take an art break. I started using five minutes here and there but felt frustrated by it. My skills didn’t match my desire to complete something every five minutes. So instead of giving up, I squashed my breaks together and challenged myself to create one better thing in 15 minutes. I named it the 15 MinArt Challenge—because I like naming things, and “minart” sounds a bit like “minute.”

The goal is to use what little you have and join in The 15 Minute Art Challenge.

The rules are simple:

Time yourself drawing for 15 minutes.

Then stop.

You can add color, but no more “drawing.”

Tag #15minartchallenge on your social media accounts. Share and encourage others to join and use their “spare” time to create something and grow their skills.

By doing this, you’ll get: faster and better. This challenge was my primary source of drawing time for almost five years.

A: Absolutely! Sharing your art on social media is optional. The most important thing is that you participate and challenge yourself to grow your artistic skills.

If you have any other questions, feel free to write. The main thing is to make the time and draw what you can—when you can.

You’ve got this. As I mentioned, this was my primary source for years.

Working a full-time non-drawing job, a wife and six kids, a part-time job, and general responsibilities limited my time. So, I decided to draw when I could. I challenged myself in 5, 10, and 15-minute increments to grow my skills.

You can do it too.

Time, Draw, Tag, Share, and Encourage.

Once you’re done, remember: Create. Be Happy. Create More.

Note: In 2019, a book about doing a 15-minute art challenge was published. I am wholly unaffiliated with it.
